Within the crystals are invisable parrallel planes. They let light in, and when you catch the light bouncing back off one of the internal planes - you can see the bright green ray reflecting back out. This entrancing and intense bright green light is very stimulating of the Heart. (Heart Chakra colours are Pink: love for oneself - flowing inwards, and Green: Love flowing outwards - to others and nature). Green carries the energies of growth, nature, rejuvenation. Dioptase helps us to release ourselves and people in our lives from the roles we have attatched to us / them.
